Dr. Kavita Malhotra, a developmental/functional Optometrist has been proudly serving the Vienna, Virginia community with personalized eye care since 2001. Prior to opening her behavioral neuro-optometric rehabilitation private practice in the metro Washington DC area, Dr. Malhotra was a faculty member at both the SUNY College of Optometry and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (now part of Drexel University) specializing in Vision Therapy/ Rehabilitation, Pediatrics and Binocular Vision. 

Dr. Malhotra enjoys serving patients throughout the metro Washington, D.C. area including Vienna, Oakton, Fairfax, Arlington, McLean, Great Falls, Falls Church, Alexandria, Reston, Centerville, Northern Virginia, Rockville, Bethesda and Maryland and the surrounding areas.

Dr. Malhotra’s journey in optometry began at the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Optometry, where she not only earned her degree, but also completed an advanced residency in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation. Her commitment to excellence is further reflected in her status, Board Certified in Vision Development and Rehabilitation. She is a Fellow of the Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association (formerly COVD). Currently she serves on the International Examination and Certification board, which administers fellowship credentialing of doctors and certification of therapists helping to uphold the highest standards in optometry.

Beyond her practice, Dr. Malhotra is an active thought leader in her field. She has lectured at numerous optometric conferences and led seminars for occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech and language specialists, and parent support groups, sharing her knowledge on how vision impacts overall function. 

Dr. Malhotra has lectured extensively on behavioral optometry topics such as vision in the classroom, vision and aging, visual difficulties in the developmentally delayed, vision and autism, managing the visual sequelae of Long COVID, vision and POTS, lenses and prisms in treatment of double vision (diplopia) after a stroke, Lyme disease, brain injury, concussion and nutrition, incorporating executive function skills in rehabilitation treatment and multisensory integration.

She specializes in integrative optometry and vision therapy with emphasis on neuro-optometric vision rehabilitation, pediatrics, learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury, concussions and preventative, and integrative vision care for all ages.

Dr. Malhotra loves learning and teaching as well as contributing to the Optometric and local community. She lives in Vienna and enjoys reading, and going for hikes with her family and friends.
