Nurturing Healthy Vision for Your Child
Your Child’s Vision Matters
Dr. Malhotra understands that your child’s vision plays a crucial role in their overall development and success. From the early years of life through their school-age years, healthy vision is essential for learning, growth, and exploring the world around them. Our specialized pediatric eye care services are designed to ensure that your child’s eyes are developing properly and that any vision issues are detected and treated early.
Comprehensive Pediatric Eye Exams
Our pediatric eye exams are tailored to meet the unique needs of children at every stage of development.
During your child’s exam, Dr. Malhotra assess a wide range of visual skills, including:
Visual Acuity: We check how clearly your child can see at both near and far distances, ensuring they have the clarity they need for school and play.
Eye Alignment and Teaming: We evaluate how well your child’s eyes work together, as poor eye coordination can lead to problems like double vision or difficulty reading.
Focus and Tracking: We assess your child’s ability to focus on objects at different distances and follow moving objects—skills that are vital for reading and other activities.
Reversal Frequency: Is your child's confusion or reversal of letters or words (b, d; p, q; saw, was; etc.) within the normal ranges for a given age? Past the age of seven, frequent visual and written reversals might indicate a visual perceptual dysfunction. Our visual processing evaluation will determine whether your child's letter reversals are developmentally appropriate or are an indication of underlying visual perceptual processing issues.
Color Perception: Color blindness affects 1 out of every 12 men in the United States and normal color vision is a requirement for some occupations. Know you or your family member’s status and options early. Our comprehensive eye exam includes a complete visual skills evaluation which will determine whether color perception abnormalities or color blindness are present
Eye Health: We carefully examine the overall health of your child’s eyes to detect any signs of conditions such as amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (crossed eyes), or congenital eye disorders.
